Authorities are asking for the public's help in finding a man who was convicted earlier this month of aggravated DUI after failing to show up for his trial.

Christopher Peil was also on parole at the time of his arrest, according to a Facebook post from the Pima County Attorney's Office.

On April 1, 2017, officers attempted a traffic stop on Peil, who was driving southbound on Oracle Road in the northbound lanes of travel, the post said.

Officers used their lights and sirens, but Peil kept driving towards them and came within a car length of police before finally swerving, according to the post.

Peil kept driving for several blocks before he finally stopped for officers, who heard the female passenger in his vehicle say, "I'm not switching you seats. I'm not getting in trouble for you," the post said.

The car began rocking back and forth and officers saw Peil climb into the back seat, while the woman remained in the passenger seat, according to the post.

Peil's blood alcohol content at the time of his arrest was 0.275, more than three times above the legal limit, the post said.

A Pima County jury convicted Peil of aggravated DUI in absentia and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 88-CRIME.
