STK emergency

A 37-year-old motorcyclist making a turn on a green turn arrow Tuesday morning was struck and killed when  a driver ran the red light, Tucson police say.

Chirag Lilabhai Patel was riding a blue Yamaha motorcycle east on Aviation Parkway about 8:00 a.m. and was struck while turning left onto the eastbound East 22nd Street ramp, Tucson police said in a news release. He died at the hospital.

Patel was struck by 2010 Toyota Corolla that was headed west when the driver ran the red light, the release said.

The Toyota driver, an unidentified 27-year-old woman, stayed at the crash scene and cooperated with police. She was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, the release said.

The investigation continues and no charges or citations have been issued.
