A 55-year-old man died after he was stuck by a vehicle while crossing North Alvernon Way early Monday morning, Tucson police say.
Michael Akowski, 55, was struck about 6:30 a.m. while crossing Alvernon mid-block north of East Grant Road, police said in a news release.
Akowski died shortly after he was taken to Banner University Medical Center, the release said. Akowski was carrying narcotic paraphernalia but it was not known if he was impaired at the time of the crash, police said.
The driver the white 2011 Dodge Avenger that struck Akowski cooperated with police. The driver was not impaired, police said.
The crash is still being investigated.
