A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicious of multiple felony charges following a rash of convenience store thefts across Pima County.

Michael Rivera is accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes from stores then trade the stolen merchandise for drugs, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

During their investigation, detectives were able to identify Rivera and his associated vehicles. On July 30, a second man, Dennis Roberts, 56, was also arrested in connection with the case, the release said.

On August 8, Tucson police located Rivera after he was linked to a burglary that morning.

Rivera, was arrested on suspicion of ten felonies, including organized retail theft, burglary, theft, felony flight, and trafficking in stolen property. Roberts, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary, conspiracy to commit organized retail theft, and conspiracy to commit shoplifting, the release said.

The investigation continues.
