Steve Kerr may still be the easygoing, self-deprecating personality he's long been known for around McKale Center. But the fact is that he's now one of the most successful figures in NBA history, with eight championship rings between playing and coaching.
Now, the Golden State Warriors are reportedly going to make him one of the league's highest paid coaches, too.
USA Today Sports reported the Warriors and Kerr are finalizing a "lucrative contract extension." Details of the contract were not released, as the person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team has not spoke publicly on the extension.
Kerr has already pledged $1 million of his own money to help Arizona's renovation efforts, making him the second-biggest UA donor among former players next to Richard Jefferson.
Five-star class of 2020 guard Nico Mannion says he'll make a "huge announcement" on July 20.
i will be making a huge announcement on July 20, 2018, at the Elite 100!
— niccolo (@niccolomannion) June 29, 2018
The announcement could revolve around Mannion's expected decision to reclassify to 2019, or it could point to finalists or possibly even a commitment.
The Wildcats have been considered leaders for the 6-3 point guard, who was the subject of a long Sports Illustrated feature in 2016-17. UA has long been chasing Mannion heavily.
KVOA has a bizarre story about an Arizona fan in Illinois who went to pretty great lengths to find UA games on the Pac-12 Networks.
Nick Johnson was scoreless in four minutes of USA's loss to Mexico in a World Cup qualifier game.
Jordin Mayes had 18 points to lead Uganda in an Africas qualifier — but his team was drummed by Nigeria. Mayes had one assist but seven turnovers.
Texas A&M Corpus Christi grad transfer guard Ehab Amin says he'll head to Oregon.
Amin was an initial recruiting target of the Wildcats in the spring, committed to Nevada and backed out when the Wolf Pack had a scholarship squeeze with the return of the Martin twins and commitment of Jordan Brown.
Amin complements a highly regarded group of high school talent that Dana Altman has amassed.
