Then-Mississippi running back Kedrick Reescano (21) warms up before a game at Alabama on Sept. 23, 2023.

Arizona head coach Brent Brennan said the Wildcats were likely to add more depth to the running back room between the end of spring practices and the start of the season — and they did, with the addition of former Mississippi running back Kedrick Reescano, who committed to the Wildcats on Wednesday.

Reescano joins the UA following one season with Ole Miss. The 6-0, 210-pound Reescano has three more years of eligibility.

The Houston-area native was a four-star prospect out of New Caney High School in 2023. Reescano signed with Ole Miss over Arkansas, Mississippi State, Houston, Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Penn State, among others. Reescano totaled 5,182 yards of total offense and 75 touchdowns in four seasons at New Caney. As a junior, Reescano placed second in triple-jump in the Class 5A Texas track and field championships.

The addition of Reescano helps the Wildcats' running back room that lost three key contributors in multi-year starter Michael Wiley, DJ Williams and leading rusher Jonah Coleman, who transferred to Washington. Four-star freshman Jordan Washington also transferred to UW following spring practices at Arizona.

Arizona returns speedster Rayshon Luke, a 5-9, 175-pounder looking for a more prominent role in the UA offense after backing up Wiley, Coleman and Williams for the last two seasons. Redshirt freshman Brandon Johnson, who didn't log a snap last season, is the Wildcats' second returner in the running back rotation.

Since the hiring of head coach Brent Brennan, the Wildcats added former San Jose State running back Quali Conley, who entered the transfer portal following his junior season after Brennan’s departure to Arizona, finished seventh in the Mountain West with 842 yards and nine touchdowns this past season. Arizona added former New Mexico star Jacory Croskey-Merritt, but he signed with Ole Miss.

Reescano gives the Wildcats four scholarship running backs on roster for the 2024 season.

Arizona kicks off its season against New Mexico on Aug. 31 at Arizona Stadium.
