Arizona has hired Andy Vaughn as its new head of football recruiting.

Vaughn’s official title is senior director, recruiting and high school relations.

Vaughn has spent most of the past 15 years in recruiting or player personnel for college football programs. Vaughn was Nebraska’s director of football and recruiting operations from January 2015 until last May, when he was named director of football recruiting. He was let go in December when Scott Frost replaced Mike Riley.

The 37-year-old Vaughn previously served as director of player personnel and director of football and recruiting operations at Nevada. Vaughn’s time in Reno coincided with the tenure of then-coach Brian Polian, whose brother, Dennis Polian, is Arizona’s associate athletic director for football. Brian Polian worked under Wildcats coach Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M in 2012. Dennis Polian worked under Sumlin at A&M in 2016 and ’17.

Vaughn also spent time in football operations at Middle Tennessee State (2008-12) and Clemson (2003-06). Vaughn graduated from North Greenville University, where he played tight end. He also holds a master’s degree from Florida State.

WildcatAuthority.com was the first to report Vaughn's hiring.

Chris Singletary had been Arizona’s director of recruiting since January 2016. He is currently listed in the staff directory as a football analyst.

Vaughn is one of several new additions to the football department. Arizona recently hired Christina DeRuyter, the daughter of Cal defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter, as its on-campus recruiting coordinator. The UA also hired Adam Khordaji as creative media coordinator.

Additionally, Phoebe Chalk Wadsworth announced Monday that she is leaving her post as an associate athletics director to become the senior director of development for the Eller College of Management.

Arizona’s football department is expected to undergo more changes on July 1, the start of the new fiscal year. Pac-12 media day, which marks the unofficial start of the new season, takes place July 25 in Los Angeles.
