Another prominent member of the 2024-25 Arizona women’s basketball team has entered the transfer portal.

Guard Lauryn Swann, who led the Wildcats in 3-point shooting as a freshman, announced her departure via social media Tuesday.

“I want to thank the University of Arizona, the coaching staff ... my teammates and all the fans for their support during my time as a Wildcat,” Swann wrote. “I’ve grown so much both on and off the court, and I’ll always be grateful for the memories and experiences I’ve had here.

“After careful consideration, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal and begin a new chapter in my journey. Thank you, Arizona, for everything!”

Swann is the seventh UA player to enter the portal since the Wildcats’ season ended with a home loss to NAU in the WBIT on March 20. Four played at least 20 minutes per game this past season: Jada Williams, Breya Cunningham, Skylar Jones and Swann.

Williams on Wednesday committed to Iowa State, one of Arizona’s new rivals in the Big 12 Conference. Williams, who’s originally from Kansas City, Missouri, averaged 12.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals as a sophomore. She sat out the WBIT game because of a foot injury.

Swann, a freshman from Queens, New York, averaged 8.0 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. She made a team-high 50 3-pointers, sinking 39.1% of her attempts from beyond the arc. She also averaged a team-low 2.1 turnovers per 40 minutes.

Only four players from the 2024-25 team who averaged double-digit minutes and still have eligibility had yet to enter the portal as of midday Wednesday: Paulina Paris, Montaya Dew (who missed the end of the season because of injury), Mailien Rolf and Sahnya Jah.
