Arizona picked up a commitment from three-star 2024 cornerback Quimari Shemwell on Tuesday.Β
Shemwell, a 6-foot, 175-pound star at Southern California powerhouse Long Beach Poly High School, selected the Wildcats over Utah, UConn, Washington State and San Jose State. Shemwell recently visited Arizona last month.Β
In his final season at Long Beach Poly, Shemwell has logged 26 tackles, three stops for loss, one sack and three interceptions, including two pick-sixes in the Jackrabbits' season-opening win overΒ Konawaena in Hawaii.
Shemwell becomes the fifth defensive back in Arizona's '24 recruiting class, joining Seattle's Kayo Patu (brother of UA edge rusher Orin Patu), Los Angeles-area products Rahim Wright and Chance Harrison, and San Diego-area cornerback Isaiah Buxton.Β Β
The Wildcats have 22 commits for their 2024 recruiting class.Β
