Including unbeaten Canyon del Oro, 10 high school football teams from Tucson and surrounding areas have earned AIA state tournament berths this year. Two of those — Sabino and Tanque Verde — won their 3A and 2A playoff openers last week.
Jason Wood started the season at quarterback for Marana High School, but over the last couple weeks, with Wood shifting to wide receiver and Colten Meyer at QB, the duo has thrived as the Tigers enter the Class 5A state playoffs this week.
