Deputies in the Pima County Sheriff's Department are hitting the small screen.
A new A&E show called “Desert Law”. will feature local deputies. The 10-episode mini-series, filmed during the spring and summer of 2025, premieres Wednesday Jan. 7.
Like other reality shows featuring law enforcement, it will follow deputies and detectives as they respond to incidents across the county, a trailer shows.
Viewers will ride along with deputies as they conduct tense standoffs, make DUI stops, and deal with hit-and-runs or emergency calls that send them into the “unknown desert landscape."
“A slow night could turn fast pretty quickly,” a deputy says in the show’s preview as he heads off on a high speed chase with camera men in tow.
Footage shows deputies on the ground and high in the sky working together to locate suspects on the run.
“It’s lawless out here,” another deputy says in the promo.
PCSD public information officer Keith Adger said this isn't the department's first collaboration with A&E. The good working relationship led producers to seek the department out for its own series.
The department hopes that the national coverage will help boost recruitment numbers and highlight the importance of work in law enforcement, Adger said.
Episodes will air here at 8 p.m. Wednesdays and stream the following day.
Adger said deputies and detectives have already seen the show, but have "taken an oath" not to say a word except that it's "very entertaining."
