Ross Dress For Less has just opened two new stores in the Tucson area as part of its nationwide expansion.

The discount retailers took over the former Staples store on East Broadway and South Wilmot Road on the city’s east side.

On the north side, Ross has moved into the former Bed Bath & Beyond space on North Oracle and West Orange Grove roads, next to TJ Maxx and Natural Grocers.

Natalie Furrier and Greg Furrier, with Picor, represented the landlord, Oracle Plaza LLC.

Ross Dress For Less, which also owns dd’s Discount stores, announced plans for a major nationwide expansion in the fall.

Combined, the company has nearly 2,300 stores across the country and hopes to expand to 2,900 in the coming years, officials say.

Other local commercial activity includes:

• Tucson Newcrest bought 62,750 square feet of retail space at 6964-6970 E. 22nd St. from Eastpoint Kolb Additional Investors LLC, JRSL LLC, Union Financial Management Services LP and JDW CAT 10 LLC for $12.8 million. Rob Tomlinson, with Picor, represented both parties.

• 1501 Fort Lowell LLC bought the 13-unit Fort Lowell Apartments at 1501 & 1503 E. Fort Lowell Road from Joseph Paul Revocable Trust & Liang Wan Har for $1.5 million. Allan Mendelsberg and Joey Martinez, with Picor, represented both parties.

• Contractor Storage Tucson LLC bought 4.30 acres of industrial land at 7040 E. Valencia Road from Valencia DevCo LLC for $700,000. Bryce Horner and Jesse Blum, with Picor, represented the seller.

• Abrio Family Services and Supports Inc. leased 2,093 square feet of office space at Midpoint Business Plaza, 3921 E. 29th St., from Pegasus Tucson Owner LLC. Paul Hooker and Andrew Keim, with Picor, represented the landlord.

• Lomo Premium Meats LLC leased 2,000 square feet of retail space at Rooney Ranch, 10785 N. Oracle Road, from Rooney Ranch D LLC. Dave Hammack and Aaron LaPrise, with Picor, represented the landlord.

• Formula Concrete leased 1,000 square feet at 140 S. Camino Seco from Larsen Baker. The landlord was represented by its brokers, Michelle Ward and Isaac Figueroa.
