Road-trip to St. David for art at monastery
Holy Trinity Monastery at 1605 S. St. Mary’s Way in St. David will host an art festival featuring wares such as weavings, jewelry, ironwork and soap.
The two-day festival is open 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15.
In addition to baked goods, shopping and live entertainment, the monastery will celebrate Mass at 5 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. and noon Sunday, according to press materials.
Be sure to wear your walking shoes and set aside plenty of time, as it features dozens of vendors.

Auction at St. Francis to benefit food banks
St. Francis in the Foothills United Methodist Church, 4625 E. River Road, will host a community auction to support local food banks.
Proceeds from the event will support food banks in Mammoth and Nogales along with Youth On Their Own and the St. Francis food pantry, according to press materials.
The event, called “A Thankful Affair,” is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, and includes live and silent auctions and live entertainment. Admission is $5 per ticket or $15 for four.

Movie at Awam Tibetan Buddhist Institute
The Awam Tibetan Buddhist Institute, 3400 E. Speedway, will show the film “Yangsi” at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20.
The film is about a boy who is identified as the reincarnation of a Tibetan Buddhist Master.

Casas Adobes to host forum on education
A free forum at Casas Adobes Congregational Church, 6801 N. Oracle Road, will discuss “Current Education Issues: Myths and Realities,” 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, according to press materials.
The talk, with Pima County Interfaith Council as a partial sponsor, will include Flowing Wells Unified School District superintendent David Baker, Southern Arizona director of the Children’s Action Alliance Michelle Crow and Jen Darland of the Arizona Education Network.

Musical focuses on
Thanksgiving of yore
For the 15th year, Ironwood Hills Church’s choir, The Gatekeepers, will produce a Thanksgiving musical.
The production, “A City on a Hill: The Journey of the Pilgrims,” includes, singing, dancing and drama.
It will be at Berger Performing Arts Center, 1200 W. Speedway, 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20.
The one-night, free show tells the story of the Pilgrims, highlighting their thankfulness even in the midst of loss, according to press materials.
