STK emergency

A 22-year-old Cochise County jail inmate died Tuesday in an apparent suicide, authorities sad.

Correction officers were conducting security checks just before 5:00 p.m. when they found Jose Hernandez Villalobos, of Glendale, unresponsive in his cell.

Villalobos was taken to Copper Queen Hospital in Bisbee and then to Banner University Hospital in Tucson, where he died, the Cochise County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

Villas had been in custody since Aug. 15, when he was arrested on suspicion of transporting two migrants, a felony, the release said.

The incident remains under investigation.
