Caid Stough

A Tucson man accused of stabbing his girlfriend during an argument is being held on a million dollar bond, court records show.

Jasmin Rede, suffered multiple stab wounds and head trauma Tuesday. She remained in intensive care Thursday at Tucson hospital.

Her ex-boyfriend, Caid Stough, 23, was arrested in connection with the attack.

During Stough’s initial court hearing, prosecutors said they anticipate Rede will survive.

Rede and Stough broke up prior to the attack, an interim complaint filed in Pima County Justice Court shows. However, they were still living together along with three children, two of whom they had together, the complaint says.

Prior to the stabbing Rede and Stough had an argument about alleged infidelity, Stough told police. At some point Rede pushed him and he grabbed a “large knife.” Rede was able to grab the knife from him, he told officers, but it ultimately ended up in his hands and he stabbed her several times, according to the complaint. Stough told officers that he was unaware of where Rede had been wounded.

After the attack, Stough told police, he stabbed himself in the neck, the complaint says.

In his first court appearance earlier this week, prosecutors said that Stough’s actions and demeanor after the attack “demonstrate his complete disregard for Rede and her children,” court records state. Prosecutors asked the judge to hold Stough without bond.

The judge set at $1 million. Stough was also forbidden from having contact with Rede, the children or Rede’s family.

His next court date is Sept. 6.

This is the second especially violent domestic violence incident Tucson police have responded to this month.

Zahriya Moreno, died during a domestic violence incident earlier this month. Moreno’s boyfriend, Angelito Olivas, has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and aggravated assault.
