Job fair

A pair of upcoming job fairs in Tucson are aimed at recruiting skilled professionals and University of Arizona students and graduates.

On Wednesday, April 3, local employers will host the ME+ Job Expo from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Tucson Convention Center.

The event is free for job seekers and focuses on jobs in the medical, engineering and mining industries and will feature presentations and job interviews with local employers Dependable Health Services; local startup Lunasonde, which has developed satellite sensors to map mineral and other ground resources; and the Southern Arizona Sports, Tourism and Film Authority.

Other participants include Pima Community College, the Pima County One-Stop Career Center, Realtor Jonathan Neuser, Desert Thunder Squadron, Exccel Tech, M3 Engineering & Technology, Freeport McMoRan, Cope Community Services, NeuTherapeutics, Bodell Construction and Swift Mortgage.

The expo will feature keynote speakers, resume-building workshops, business networking, food trucks and self-care providers.

UA local job fair, shadowing

Meanwhile, the University of Arizona will host its Tucson Jobs Now fair from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at the Bear Down Gym Building on the UA main campus at 1428 E. University Blvd.

UA students and grads can find full- and part-time jobs and internships with local employers at the event and register via Handshake, the UA’s student-engagement service.

Local employers wishing to participate may contact Marbila Rocha, UA career events manager, at marbilarocha@arizona.edu.

The UA also is looking for students and employers to participate in its summer one-day Job Shadow Program, which allows students to spend a day shadowing a person in their job, between May 13 and June 7.

Student registration opens April 1 and ends April 21.

Employers interested in hosting a UA student for a job shadow may contact Kriss McClellan at kriss@arizona.edu or Lyndsey Edmonds lyndseyedmonds@arizona.edu.
