A 37-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed Tuesday afternoon when Tucson police said he rode into traffic on East Tanque Verde Road.
Anthony Michael Pashano was struck about 3:30 p.m. shortly after he entered the traffic lanes of Tanque Verde from a private parking lot near North Pantano Road, police said in a news release.
Pashano entered the eastbound lanes of Tanque Verde Road without stopping and yielding to vehicle traffic. He then rode into the median eastbound lane while facing westbound and was struck by a Ford Mustang, the release said.
Pashano died at the crash scene.
The driver was neither injured nor impaired, police said.
The initial investigation says Pashano entering the road without stopping and riding a bicycle in the traffic lanes along with the Mustang's speed, are factors in the crash.
The creck still is being investigated.
