A 33-year-old motorcyclist was killed Monday evening in a crash on Tucson's southeast side, police said.
About 7 p.m., Thomas E. Vargas was traveling west on East Golf Links Road when he collided with an eastbound Toyota Prius turning left onto South Cathy Avenue, near South Harrison Road, Tucson police said in a news release.
Vargas, who had a motorcycle endorsement and was wearing a helmet, died at the crash scene. The unidentified 40-year-old driver of the Toyota was not injured, police said.
Failure to yield while making a left turn by the Toyota driver is believed to be the contributing factor in the wreck. No citations have been issued and the investigation remains ongoing, the release said.
