A 3-year-old girl was killed and her pregnant mother was injured when their car was struck by an apparent street racer, with an impact so hard that it split their car in half.

A man has been arrested in connection with the deadly crash that happened about 1 p.m. Friday on East Valencia and South Country Club roads, Tucson police said in a news release.

Police have not identified the mom and her daughter, but a Gofundme account raising money for the family identified the girl as Anna. The injured mother, the family says, is nine months pregnant.

In the crash, the woman was turning left onto Country Club from westbound Valencia when her Toyota Camry was struck by a Hyundai Genesis, one of the two cars speeding east on Valencia, police said in the news release.

The girl, who was in a car seat in the Camry's back seat, and her mother were both taken to the hospital. The toddler died later, the release said.

The mother's condition has not been released.

The driver of the Hyundai, Christian Isaiah Randall, was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Randall, 22, was later arrested and booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of second-degree murder, aggravated assault and endangerment. Bond was set at $500,000, the release said.

The driver of the second speeding car fled after the crash.

Anyone with any information as asked to call Tucson Police or 88-CRIME, the anonymous tip line.

Friday's deadly crash is the second linked to street racing at the same intersection in less than two months.

On March 1, a 20-year-old driver and two passengers were killed in a crash at the same intersection.

In that wreck, a black BMW 750 was speeding east on East Valencia Road and crashed into an SUV turning onto South County Club Road. The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries.

The BMW driver, Ashtyn Vandersloot, was killed along with passengers Antonio Olalde, 20, and Grace Hobbs, 18, police have said. A third passenger was injured.
