A 66-year-old Tucson man has been arrested in the killing of his domestic partner, police say.

About 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, co-workers of Sandra Joyce Rae-Hansen, 74, called police after she failed to come to work and they were unable to reach her, police said in a news release.

Her partner Steven Joseph Birch, 66, answered the door when the workers went to the pair's home in the 1600 block of East Prince Road, between North Campbell and North Mountain avenues, the release said.

When officers arrived, they found the body of Rae-Hansen inside.

Birch was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence-related first-degree murder and booked into the Pima County jail.
