Tucson police are searching for the driver in a deadly hit-and-run Tuesday evening on the city's south side.
The crash happened about 7 p.m. in the 200 block of East Drexel Road, near South Nogales Highway, police said in a news release.
The unidentified pedestrian was struck by a westbound vehicle while crossing Drexel, police said. The person died at the scene, the release said. The name of the person was being withheld by police pending family notification.
Investigators used car parts found at the crash scene to identify the type of vehicle involved — a white 2017 to 2019 Ford Escape. The vehicle should have a missing driver's side mirror and damage to the driver's side headlamp area, police said.
