A 37-year-old man has been charged with suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with a shooting in front of a Tucson store earlier this month.
Donald Albert Delgado Jr. is being held on a $1 million bond stemming from the Jan. 6 shooting of Timothy Dean Grace, 37, at a convenience store in the 400 block of East Prince Road near North First Avenue, Tucson police said in a news release.
Delgado became upset when Grace apparently said something to a female companion who tried to pet his dog. The men argued and Delgado fired a gunshot that struck Grace in the chest, according to an interim complaint filed in Pima County Justice Court.
The pair fled in a black Dodge Ram pickup truck after the shooting, records say.
Grace was hospitalized. He died Jan. 26.
Delgado has a history of felony convictions and is prohibited from having a firearm, court records show.
Delgado has been jailed since his Jan. 8 arrest. His charges were upgraded to second-degree murder after Grace died, the release said.
