Tucson police are investigating the deadly shooting this weekend of a man who lived in an encampment.
About 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Matthew Erik Simmerman, 56, was shot in a wash near the 900 block of South Warren Avenue, near East Aviation Parkway and East 18th Street, Tucson police said in a news release.
Simmerman died at the scene.
Simmerman had been living in the wash with a female companion. In the shooting, a gunman walked into the camp and shot Simmerman.
