A man died early Tuesday after being struck by a car while crossing the street on the city's north side, Tucson police say.

The man was not in a crosswalk about 12:30 a.m. when police say he tried to cross East Prince Road east of North Stone Avenue. He was struck by 2012 Dodge Charger that was headed west on Prince, Tucson police said in a news release.

The man died at the hospital. Police say he was carrying drug paraphernalia. His name was withheld pending family notification, the release said.

The driver stopped immediately and cooperated with police.

The crash remains under investigation.
