Would you know what to do in an active shooter situation? If not, police in Tucson have some free advice.
Tucson Police Department is offering an "Active Shooter, Violent Encounter Personal Preparedness Course" to members of the public at no cost later this month
The two-hour session is scheduled for Thursday May 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at TPD's west side location at 1310 W. Miracle Mile.
Topics to be covered include preparedness strategies, potential warning signs and methods to use if confronted with an active shooter situation, the department said in a news release
"Included in the lecture will be discussion on the likelihood of being involved in this type of event, some looks back at past tragedies and some lessons learned from analyzing those events," the news release said.
The event, cosponsored by Tucson's Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, has limited space available so participants must register ahead of time. To register, go to eventbrite.com. and search for active shooter events in Tucson.
