UPDATE: 2 arrested in deadly Tucson carjacking of 66-year-old Autozone worker
Tucson police are searching for a man who was carjacked and kidnapped late Wednesday outside the auto supply store where he worked.
Detectives believe the victim, Timothy Abriola, 66, was injured in the attack that occurred shortly before midnight as Abriola was leaving his job at the AutoZone store near South 12th Avenue and East Irvington Road.
"We are actively working to find out where he is," Tucson Police Department spokesman Sgt. Pete Dugan said of the victim.
"His friends and family have not heard from him. We are reaching out to the community to say if anyone has seen him or knows about this incident, please call 911 or 88-CRIME."
So far, police have determined that Abriola left work after closing the store and was about to get into his vehicle when "he was approached by several suspects who carjacked him and kidnapped him," Dugan said.
The victims' vehicle was located within a few hours, and "based on evidence collected from the original carjacking scene and evidence from inside the vehicle, we do believe he is injured," he said.
Dugan said police have amassed other evidence that can't be disclosed at this point in the investigation, and said the department will release more details as they become available.
