STK emergency

A 77-year-old woman has died days after a two-vehicle crash on Tucson's northeast side, authorities say.

On Sept. 1, Kay Alma Tomamichel, was a passenger in a 2018 Kia sedan that collided with a 2025 BMW SUV at East Tanque Verde Road and East Catalina Highway, Tucson police said Wednesday in a news release.

Tomamichel had remained hospitalized and died Tuesday, the release said.

Neither the driver of the Kia, 75, nor the BMW, 49, was seriously injured.

Initial findings show the BMW was headed east on Tanque Verde and turning left onto Catalina Highway when it was struck by the westbound Kia.

Investigators were unable to determine the phase of the traffic lights at the time of the crash. It is still being investigated.
