A woman charged in the 2019 distracted-driving crash in which a young Oro Valley couple was killed will face a new trial, prosecutors say.

Jana Brianne Giron was found guilty by jurors last month of tampering with evidence. The jury, however, entered a "no verdict" on the remaining charges of reckless manslaughter, criminal damage and endangerment, according to the Pima County Attorney's Office.

Giron is accused of being on her cellphone in November 2019 when she struck Β a car carrying Caitlin Festerling, 21, and Paul Garcia, 22. The vehicle was then hit by a pickup truck near North Shannon Road and West Naranja Drive.

Giron is set to be sentenced Oct. 28 on for the tampering conviction. She will face a new trial on the remaining charges next February, prosecutors say.
