The Tucson Citizen showed photos of the home built in about 1896 by George Roskruge. In 1961, his niece Mrs. Beppie L. Culin had lived in the home for 40 years.

An air of traditional elegance permeates the high-ceilinged living room. The wooden grill in the entryway was a favorite architectural motif in late 19th Century homes. Note the elaborate wood fireplace and mantel, the gay tile insets.

Many a child has rattled a stick along the picket fence which encloses this turn-of-the-century house. Note the "gingerbread" along the front roof line. At one time a carved wood fan highlighted the roof gable.

The front porch was a favorite family retreat in bygone days. It overlooks the magnificent side yard dotted with numerous trees. A canvas awning and honeysuckle vines keep the porch cool in summer.

A silver service and cyclone candles decorate a sideboard in the dining-sitting room. Above hangs pioneer Tucsonan George Roskruge's family crest. Pewter and china pieces line the shelf.

Mirror of this marble-topped dresser reflects the comfortable bed in the front bedroom. Mrs. Culin calls it the "hat room" because she usually keeps her hats conveniently spread out on the bed.

One doorway in the broad foyer has been converted to book shelves. The adjoining door leads to the dining-sitting room. Her late husband's Navy sword is displayed atop the bookcase.
