Arizona women’s basketball has made a late addition to its roster.

Blessing Adebanjo, a 6-foot-3 front-court player from Lagos, Nigeria, via Japan, has joined the team, the program announced Wednesday night.

Blessing Adebanjo, a 6-3 front-court player from Nigeria who played a year of college in Japan, has joined the Arizona women’s basketball team.

Adebanjo played this past season for Yamanashi Gakuin University in Kofu, Japan. She averaged 15.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 7.7 blocks per game.

β€œBlessing is an incredible athlete,” first-year UA coach Becky Burke said in a news release. β€œShe is long, versatile and exactly what we are looking for in the caliber of players we need to compete for a Big 12 championship.

β€œShe is an incredible young woman with a great spirit and eagerness to be great. We are very lucky to have her and expect Blessing to (have) an immediate impact on our team.”

Adebanjo previously attended Japan Aviation Academy.

Arizona now has six players listed at 6-2 or taller: Achol Magot (6-7), Miracle Akpotayobo (6-3), Adebanjo (6-3), Nora Francois (6-2), Freddie Wallace (6-2) and Montaya Dew (6-2).
