Arizona added much-needed depth to its offensive line on Friday.
Former Texas Tech offensive tackle Ty Buchanan and ex-Georgia Tech offensive tackle Jordan Brown committed to the Wildcats on Friday. Buchanan and Brown each have two years of eligibility remaining.
The 6-6, 310-pound Buchanan signed with USC out of Calallen High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, and redshirted his freshman season in 2021 before transferring to Texas Tech.
In three seasons at Texas Tech, Buchanan logged 681 offensive snaps and allowed two sacks in 487 pass-blocking snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
Brown, a 6-5, 315-pound Long Beach, California native, signed with Charlotte after starring at Jireh Prep Academy in North Carolina. In 129 snaps in two seasons, Brown didn’t allow a sack and gave up seven quarterback pressures.
The Wildcats are in dire need of offensive linemen after losing NFL-bound tackle Jonah Savaiinaea, veteran center Josh Baker and left guard Wendell Moe Jr., who transferred to Tennessee on Wednesday. The only returning starters on Arizona’s offensive line are left tackle Rhino Tapa’atoutai, who suffered a season-ending knee injury this year, and guard Alexander Doost.
With the addition of Buchanan and Brown, Arizona now has eight newcomers in the transfer portal.
