Reymello Murphy, left, averaged 17.9 yards per catch with Old Dominion last season.

On the same day Arizona lost a wide receiver, Kevin Green Jr., to the transfer portal, the Wildcats added one, after former Old Dominion receiver Reymello Murphy committed to the Wildcats on Monday.ย

Murphy is the first wide receiver Arizona added in the portal since the hiring of head coach Brent Brennan.

In 13 games last season, Murphy led ODU in receiving yards (502) and ranked 27th in college football in yards per catch (17.9) in his only season with the Monarchs.

Before his lone season at Old Dominion, the Fremont, California native hadย 17 catches for 297 yards and three touchdowns at San Mateo Community College (California) in 2022. The 6-foot, 185-pound Murphy will enter a receiver rotation that returns starters Tetairoa McMillan and Montana Lemonious-Craig.ย

Besides McMillan and Lemonious-Craig, sophomore Malachi Riley, third-year receivers AJ Jones and Chris Hunter, redshirt freshmen Devin Hyatt and Jackson Holman, early enrollee Brandon Phelps and walk-on Rex Haynes, son of former Arizona State Sun Devil and NFL defensive back Mike Haynes, have all stood out this spring. Riley and Haynes both caught touchdowns in Arizona's spring game on Saturday.

Murphy is the third player added to Arizona's 2024 transfer class since the Wildcats' spring game on Saturday, along with Oregon offensive lineman Michael Wooten and Utah edge rusher Chase Kennedy.ย ย

The spring transfer portal closes on Tuesday.ย
