Arizona head coach Brent Brennan throws the ‘WC’ hand sign to the ZonaZoo student section after the team made a brief appearance at Arizona Stadium on Aug. 21, 2025.

Arizona wrapped up training camp Thursday night at Davis Sports Center and Dick Tomey Practice Fields until nearby forced the Wildcats to practice indoors for the last quarter of practice.

Here are notes and takeaways from Arizona's final training camp session, as the Wildcats turn their attention to game week:

* About 30-45 minutes into practice, the football team migrated to Arizona Stadium and briefly attended a rally for ZonaZoo members to learn chants and traditions. Arizona head coach Brent Brennan, wide receiver Chris Hunter and offensive lineman Rhino Tapa'atoutai hyped up the crowd and sang "Bear Down, Arizona."

* Sophomore kicker Michael Salgado-Medina was the only kicker to take field-goal reps on Thursday. Salgado-Medina was 5 for 6 and missed a 44-yard attempt. His makes were from 30, 32, 38, 48 and 45 yards. Salgado-Medina also hit a 55-yarder towards the end of practice. Walk-on kicker Tyler Prasuhn and Salgado-Medina have been competing for the starting placekicker role. Brennan said Salgado-Medina is "a little bit ahead" in the battle.

* Tight end Tyler Powell ran a post and caught a 20-yard touchdown over the middle from quarterback Noah Fifita in a red zone period.

* Texas Tech transfer Ty Buchanan took team reps at left tackle after being limited for a week. Arizona's offensive line was Buchanan, Michael Wooten, Ka'ena Decambra, Alexander Doost and Tristan Bounds.

* Safety Genesis Smith intercepted back quarterback Braedyn Locke. Alcorn State transfer defensive end Malachi Bailey sacked Locke.

* Former Arizona quarterback Jayden de Laura attended practice. De Laura, who quarterbacked the Wildcats for two seasons in 2022 and '23, is in town for the IFL championship. De Laura has 34 touchdowns and three interceptions for the Vegas Knight Hawks in his first season in the IFL. Vegas faces the Green Bay Blizzard Saturday night at Tucson Arena.

* A scout from the Atlanta Falcons attended practice.
