Another member of Arizona's staff is following former head coach Jedd Fisch to Washington. This one is a former Wildcat player, too.

Ex-Arizona star wide receiver Syndric Steptoe, who was recently the UA football program's senior director of player and community relations, was announced as Washington's newest senior director of player engagement on Monday.

Steptoe leaves Arizona after working for the UA football program since 2019 as director of player development under former head coach Kevin Sumlin. Steptoe also held roles within Arizona's athletic department. As senior director and community relations, Steptoe helped with the "Youth Impact Program," a two-week football and education camp for middle schoolers in the summer, which had airmen from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and UA football players as coaches and counselors for camp participants.

As a player at Arizona, Steptoe was a star receiver under head coach Mike Stoops and had 1,584 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns between 2003-06. Steptoe was also a punt return specialist and combined for 482 yards and two touchdowns in his final two seasons at Arizona.

Steptoe was chosen by the Cleveland Browns in the seventh round of the NFL Draft in 2007 and played three seasons in the league.

Steptoe's son, Kayden, a 6-0 sophomore defensive back and wide receiver at Salpointe Catholic High School this past season, posted to X (Twitter) on Jan. 26 that he received his "first D-1 offer" from Washington.

Arizona's spring game is on April 27 at 6 p.m. at Arizona Stadium.
