A 52-year-old man has died days after he was struck by a car while crossing the street in midtown, Tucson police said.

Ramon Z. Holguin was struck about 8 p.m. Dec. 11 in the 2000 block of South Alvernon Way, near East 29th Street, police said in a news release.

Investigators were notified Tuesday that he died at the hospital.

In the crash, Holguin was crossing Alvernon Way outside of a sidewalk when he was struck by a northbound 2014 Chevrolet Impala, the release said.

The unidentified 27-year-old driver initially left the crash scene, but returned when police arrived, the release said.

Police noted that streetlights south of the crash scene were not working at the time Holguin was struck, but added that the crash still is being investigated.
