STK emergency

A 23-year-old man was killed early Sunday when Tucson police say he lost control of a car and smashed into the side of a building in midtown.

About 6:30 a.m., David Gabriel Castro was speeding south on North Country Club Road in a Honda Accord when he lost control of the car, Tucson police said Monday in a news release.

The Honda struck a curb at East Speedway and was "vaulted" into the side of Empire Beauty School, on the southwest corner of the intersection. He died at the hospital, the release said.

Castro was not wearing a seatbelt and was traveling well above the posted 35 mph speed limit, the release said. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, police said.
