The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded a $7,000 grant to the International Rescue Committee in Tucson.

  • Dollar General Literacy Foundation: The International Rescue Committee in Tucson received a $7,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. The foundation grants are aimed at supporting adult, family and summer literacy programs within a 20-mile radius of Dollar General stores or distribution centers. The Tucson IRC was one of nine Arizona organizations benefiting from a total of $34,000 in grants. The Dollar General Literacy Foundation is celebrating its 25th anniversary, providing more than $154 million in funding across the country since its inception.
  • Trico Electric Cooperative Inc.: Trico has awarded a total of $40,000 in Power Grants to 16 Southern Arizona nonprofit organizations. Organizations receiving grants of $5,000 each were the Marana School District, Community Home Repair Projects of Arizona and the Arivaca Action Center Inc. Four organizations were awarded $2,500 grants. They are the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, Marana School District’s Food and Clothing Bank, Interfaith Community Services and the United Community Health Center. Five grants for $2,000 each went to the Mount Lemmon Fire District, the YMCA of Southern Arizona/Northwest YMCA, Junior Achievement of Arizona β€” Southern District, Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona and MIKID β€” Mentally Ill Kids In Distress. Marana Healthcare, Inc., Arizona Youth Partnership and Impact of Southern Arizona received grants of $1,500 each. The Arivaca Fire District Auxiliary Inc. received a $500 grant. Since 2008, the Power Grant program has awarded more than $360,000 in grants.
