Joel Trupiano, holding bell, and nominator Hilary Van Alsburg, left of Joel, with the staff of Childrenโ€™s Museum Tucson.

What: Benโ€™s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is โ€œbelled.โ€

Last weekโ€™s recipient: Joel Trupiano and members of the 501st Legion.

Nominated by: Hilary Van Alsburg.

Why: The 501st Legion is a group of volunteers who dress up in full โ€œStar Warsโ€ gear and attend events in the Tucson area. They let children pose with them and take photos and brighten their lives. They donate a large amount of time to attend childrenโ€™s events in the community. They recently attended events at Childrenโ€™s Museum Tucson, including a Make-A-Wish event for a young child. โ€œThese men and women gave many hours and hours of their time,โ€ Van Alsburg wrote in her nomination letter.
