Officials have identified the man who was fatally shot Monday morning in Tucson's northwest side as 27-year-old Edward Dalton Decker.Β 

Just before 1 a.m., deputies responded to a report of gunfire in the 5000 block of North Myakka Avenue, near North Shannon and West Ruthrauff roads, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a news release. When deputies arrived, they found Decker fatally wound.

A short time later, deputies learned of a man who had gone to Northwest Medical Center with a gunshot wound. He was eventually taken to Banner-University Medical Center for further treatment and was later identified as Robert Allen Oliver Jr., 24.Β Β 

The shootings are believed to be connected, deputies say.

Further details were not released as of Monday morning. It is unknown how the incident started or if Decker and Oliver were the only ones involved.
