I have been unable to get my head around or comment on the senseless and cruel events at Sandy Hook school. But I am ready to praise the efforts of local law enforcement officers, the Connecticut State Police and federal authorities.
These men and women worked cooperatively to insure the privacy of the town's families and the integrity of the crime scene. No showboating, no sign of using the occasion for political gain, when at the same time, the Wolf Blitzers of the world hankered to exploit every shred of gossip and rumor. Shame on their pandering.
The authorities' diligence, combined attention to detail, and concern for the victims' families is a model for any public safety operation. Because the police held the line, the media celebrities have been forced to observe a code of ethics. Someone else's.
