The Arizona women’s basketball team added its third transfer commitment in two days Wednesday evening when former Virginia guard Kamryn Kitchen announced she’ll be playing for the Wildcats.

Kitchen was ranked as the No. 57 prospect in the class of 2025 by ESPN’s HoopGurlz before reclassifying to the class of ‘24 and joining the Cavaliers last summer.

Ex-Virginia guard Kamryn Kitchen, a former top-60 recruit, announced via social media that she’s transferring to Arizona.

Kitchen ended up redshirting last season, meaning she has four years of eligibility remaining. She underwent a procedure on her foot during the season, according to Charlottesville media outlet cvillerightnow.com.

Kitchen is the fourth overall transfer to commit to Arizona since Becky Burke was named head coach last week. All are guards or wings: Noelani Cornfield (Buffalo), Mickayla Perdue (Cleveland State), Tanyuel Welch (Memphis) and Kitchen.

The 5-foot-9 Kitchen made a school-record 200 3-pointers at Independence High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, across three seasons. She explained her decision to reclassify in an interview with 247Sports in the summer of 2024.

“They first gave me the opportunity three months ago, and they told me that if I’m ready I can play and if I’m not I can redshirt,” Kitchen said. “With my high school coach leaving with pretty much the whole staff, it was kind of tough. I thought coming this year was the best opportunity to get a head start on my academics and come in as a true freshman next year and ahead of the game and a lot stronger.”
