The deadly shooting at a Tucson McDonald's started as a domestic dispute at the home of the alleged gunman's ex-girlfriend, a court document says.

About 11 p.m. Monday, Philip Chambers, Jr. went to the woman's home near West Ironwood Hill Drive and North Silverbell Road and was arguing with her current boyfriend, Casey Sheehan Kneisel, when she arrived at the residence, an initial complaint filed in Pima County Justice Court says.

During a confrontation, Chambers allegedly pulled out a weapon and shot the woman in the leg, breaking her femur. She was taken to an area hospital.

Kneisel, who also was wounded, ran to the nearby McDonald’s to get help, police said.

Cartridge casings and a blood trail led from the home to the restaurant, through the kitchen and into an employee break room where police say Kneisel was shot and killed at close range, the complaint says.

Chambers fled after the shooting but was apprehended a short time later.

He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault domestic violence and misconduct involving weapons by a prohibited possessor, police said. He remains jailed on a $1 million bond.
