The police officer who shot and wounded a man outside a Tucson Walmart last month has been identified by the multi-agency group that investigates police shootings here.

The shooting happened about 9:45 a.m. when Tucson police officers went to the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 8640 E. Broadway for a reported armed robbery attempt, authorities say.

Matthew Timpf was one of two officers who chased the alleged robber, who fired in the direction of the pair. Timpf, an 18-year Tucson police veteran, returned fire, striking the man in the arm, a report from the Pima Regional Critical Incident Team says.

Brandon Clifton Bryant, 45, was arrested after being treated at the hospital, the PRCIT said.

Bryant remains jailed on suspicion of multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault on a peace officer with a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm and armed robbery.
