A man found in a crashed car Sunday was shot in a confrontation earlier at a house on the city's southeast side, Tucson police say.
About 4:15 p.m., officers were on their way to a shooting call in the 1900 block of South Montezuma Avenue when a car crash was reported nearby, Tucson police said in a news release.
The crash happened in the 1900 block of East 31st Street, near East 29th Street and South Alvernon Way.
Officers found Misael Lopez, 19, inside the vehicle. He'd been shot, the release said. Lopez died later at the hospital.
Police say Lopez was shot during a confrontation at the house on Montezuma.
Investigators say witnesses reported that gunfire erupted during a confrontation between two men and occupants of the house. The house was empty, however, when police arrived, the release said.
The shooting still is being investigated.
