Arizona football media day 2025 | Treydan Stukes

Arizona defensive back Treydan Stukes speaks to reporters on media day at the Davis Sports Center on July 29, 2025.

With just over three weeks until the season opener, Arizona is officially in the fully-padded portion of training camp.

Arizona kicked off Week 2 of fall training camp on Thursday. Here are notes and takeaways from a 110-degree morning and afternoon at Dick Tomey Practice Fields and Davis Sports Center.

* Arizona defensive back Treydan Stukes, who suffered a season-ending knee injury last season against Utah, participated in a 7-on-7 period. It was the first practice Stukes participated in non-individual drills. Stukes has been a participant in every practice in training camp.

* Washington State transfer receiver Kris Hutson had arguably his best practice of training camp and was one of the Wildcats' top performers on offense on Thursday. Despite smothering coverage by San Jose State transfer cornerback Michael Dansby in a one-on-one drill, Hutson fell to the ground and still managed to catch the ball.

* Texas transfer cornerback Jay'Vion Cole had another productive practice and recorded a pass deflection covering wide receiver Tre Spivey in a one-on-one period.

* Backup quarterback Braedyn Locke has put together a strong training camp. Locke has been impressive with over-the-shoulder passes near the sideline.

* Freshman receivers Gio Richardson and Isaiah Mizell displayed promising speed and catching ability in one-on-one drills and 7-on-7 periods. Considering the amount of veteran receivers Arizona added in the offseason, both Richardson and Mizell could redshirt this season and have a mainstay role in the offense next season or they could possibly contribute on special teams. Mizell was one of the players returning kickoffs, along with Javin Whatley, Jeremiah Patterson and freshman running back Wesley Yarbrough.

* Arizona's intense kicking competition continued on Thursday. Sophomore Michael Salgado-Medina made two of his four attempts from 45 yards and 48 yards; he missed a 38- and 37-yard attempt from the left hashmark. Freshman Tyler Prasuhn made his 38-yard and 48-yard attempts, but missed from 37 yards and 45 yards.

* Arizona worked on kickoff coverage and punt coverage. Illinois State transfer kicker and Sierra Vista native Ian Wagner is in line to become Arizona's kickoff specialist.

* The starting offensive line was Ty Buchanan, Michael Wooten, Ka'ena Decambra, Alexander Doost and Tristan Bounds. The starting defensive line featured Tre Smith, Tiaoalii Savea and Cerritos College transfer Leroy Palu, with Chase Kennedy as an edge-rushing linebacker. Smith and Dominic Lolesio each had sacks in the final team period.

* A scout from the Seattle Seahawks was in attendance.
