Joel Trupiano, holding bell, and nominator Hilary Van Alsburg, left of Joel, with the staff of Children’s Museum Tucson.

What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is β€œbelled.”

Last week’s recipient: Joel Trupiano and members of the 501st Legion.

Nominated by: Hilary Van Alsburg.

Why: The 501st Legion is a group of volunteers who dress up in full β€œStar Wars” gear and attend events in the Tucson area. They let children pose with them and take photos and brighten their lives. They donate a large amount of time to attend children’s events in the community. They recently attended events at Children’s Museum Tucson, including a Make-A-Wish event for a young child. β€œThese men and women gave many hours and hours of their time,” Van Alsburg wrote in her nomination letter.
