A 50-year-old man was arrested and a warrant has been issued for his 70-year-old father in connection with the sexual assault of a 13-year-old Tucson girl.

Tucson Police say the girl was riding a Sun Tran bus on April 1 when she was approached by an older man who convinced her to go to his home in the 3400 block of North Country Club Road, near Kleindale Road, in midtown.

At the home, the girl ingested an unknown substance and lost consciousness, police said. When she awoke hours later, the teen was surrounded by the man from the bus and other men she didn’t know, some of whom allegedly assaulted her, police said. She was eventually able to grab her things and leave the home.

The young girl reported the assault the following day and detectives were able to use bus footage to confirm her story and locate the residence where she was taken.

On July 31, David Manuel Samaniego Jr. was taken into custody at a home near East 22nd Street, Tucson police said. He was arrested on suspicion of one count of sexual conduct with a minor and booked at the Pima County jail where he is being held on $500,000 bond.

His father, David Manuel Samaniego Sr., has a warrant out for his arrest for his involvement in the case, though a specific charge was not released. Two others are still being sought. Police have released forensic sketches of the others thought to be involved.
