Coming Tuesday

Dutch Bros. Coffee is hosting a grand opening Tuesday, Oct. 9, for its shop at South Wilmot Road and East Broadway.

Warning to those who will find themselves anywhere near the new Dutch Bros. Coffee at 120 S. Wilmot Road on Tuesday, Oct. 9: Expect delays.

Not just when they open at 5:30 a.m.

Expect to see taillights at noon.

At 3.

Heck, possibly all the way up until the 824-square-foot cottage of caffeine turns off the lights for the day at 11 p.m.Β

The national coffee chain, which opened its first of three Tucson shops last week, is hosting its grand opening on Tuesday. And Dutch Bros. grand openings come with a strong incentive for people to turn out: Free drinks for everyone.

From the time they open at 5 a.m. to closing time at 11 p.m., the small shop at South Wilmot and East Broadway will introduce itself with free 16-ounce drinks for anyone who shows up.Β

Translation: Long lines and traffic jams.

The Oregon-based company's next Tucson location could be off Cortaro Road and Interstate 10 in a proposed 21-acre mixed-use project anchored by a 32,500-square-foot Carondelet Health Network micro-hospital. Work on the project has begun.
